Bullfrog Basin Airport (BFG)

Bullfrog Basin Airport is a small public-use airfield serving the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and Lake Powell in Kane County, Utah. Owned by the U.S. National Park Service and opened in July 1969, it supports private aviation, emergency medical flights and search-and-rescue operations tied to the recreation area. The airport sits about 5 miles (8 km) north of Bullfrog Marina at an elevation of about 4,167 feet (1,270 m). It has a single asphalt runway, 01/19, measuring 3,500 by 40 feet, and is used by general aviation and chartered aircraft rather than scheduled airline flights. Road access is provided by Utah State Route 276, which connects Bullfrog Marina with communities in south-central and southeastern Utah, including Ticaboo and Hanksville. The airfield has no fuel or repair services and closes from sunset to sunrise. Because of its location near Lake Powell, the airport functions as a convenient entry point for boating, houseboating and backcountry recreation, with marina facilities, lodging and supplies available a short drive away at Bullfrog.
