About Buchanan Field Airport
Buchanan Field Airport is a county-owned public airport in Concord, California, located about one mile west of downtown in the East Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area. Opened in 1944, it serves general and business aviation for Contra Costa County and hosts scheduled passenger service through JSX.
Today, JSX operates 30-seat regional jets from a compact dedicated terminal at 181 John Glenn Drive, offering nonstop flights to Burbank and Las Vegas. The airport also supports two full-service fixed-base operators, flight training, corporate aviation and dozens of aviation-related businesses.
The airport sits close to downtown Concord and is convenient to I-680 and Highway 242, with the Concord BART station roughly three miles away and road links to Walnut Creek, Oakland, San Francisco and Napa Valley.
Its small-airport layout, short check-in process, limited free parking and on-field amenities make it a convenient alternative to larger Bay Area hubs for travelers whose route matches its destinations.
