About Bryce Canyon Airport

Bryce Canyon Airport serves as the small aviation gateway to Bryce Canyon National Park and the surrounding high-plateau region of Garfield County, Utah. Built as a Works Progress Administration project in 1936 and first used for a landing in spring 1938, the airport remains one of the highest public-use airfields in the United States at about 7,590 feet elevation.

Located roughly four miles north of the park entrance, the airport mainly handles general aviation, charter, and scenic air tours rather than scheduled airline service. Its single asphalt runway, 03/21, is about 7,400 feet long, and the historic 1930s log terminal is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Visitors can continue to Bryce Canyon City, Ruby's Inn, Tropic, Panguitch, and other nearby destinations by rental car, shuttle, private transfer, or pre-arranged group transport. On-demand taxi service is limited in this rural area, so booking ground transportation ahead is recommended.

The compact terminal offers restrooms, a small gift shop, and a rustic lobby, while the airfield provides aviation fuel and aircraft parking. For most commercial travelers, the nearest scheduled airline gateways are Cedar City Regional Airport and St. George Regional Airport.
