About Bristol Airport
Bristol Airport is the main international airport serving Bristol and the wider South West of England and South Wales. Located at Lulsgate Bottom in North Somerset, about 13 km (8 miles) southwest of central Bristol, it provides domestic and international connections for leisure and business travellers across the region.
The airport opened on its current site in 1957 and was known as Bristol International from 1997 before being rebranded as Bristol Airport in 2010. Its single terminal building opened in 2000 and has since been extended to improve capacity, with one runway handling all arrivals and departures.
Bristol Airport has no direct rail station, so most passengers reach the city by the 24-hour Airport Flyer A1 bus to Bristol Temple Meads station and the city centre, or by taxi, private transfer, coach or rental car.
