Breiðdalsvík Airport is a small airfield serving Breiðdalsvík, a coastal village in the Eastfjords of Iceland. The airport opened in 1982 after being built on reclaimed ground west of the village, replacing an earlier landing strip at Heydalir.
The airfield is primarily used for general aviation, private flights and air ambulance operations rather than scheduled passenger services. For commercial flights, travelers usually use Egilsstaðir Airport, which lies roughly 75 km north along Route 1 and is about an hour away by car.
Located about 2 km from the centre of Breiðdalsvík, the airport is close to the Ring Road and the village harbour. The runway was removed from Isavia's list of official airports in 2017, although it remains maintained and there have been local efforts to have it re-registered.
For visitors, the airport offers a convenient arrival point for light aircraft in the Eastfjords, with onward travel by private car, taxi or pre-arranged transfer to Breiðdalsvík, nearby coastal settlements and Egilsstaðir.
