About Boston Logan International Airport

Boston Logan International Airport is the largest transportation center in New England and the main international airport serving Boston and the surrounding Massachusetts region. Opened in 1923 as a military airfield, it was later renamed in 1943 in honor of General Edward Lawrence Logan and has grown into a major gateway for both domestic and international travel.

The airport operates four passenger terminals: A, B, C, and E. Terminal E, the international terminal, was first built in 1974 and underwent a major expansion and modernization completed in 2023, while the other terminals primarily handle domestic flights and selected international services.

Located in the East Boston neighborhood, the airport sits about 2 miles across the harbor from downtown Boston. Travelers can continue to the city by Silver Line bus, the MBTA Blue Line via a free shuttle, taxis, ride-shares, Logan Express services, water transportation, and rental cars, making onward travel relatively straightforward.

With modern passenger facilities, dining, shopping, lounges, and strong transport links, Boston Logan functions as a practical and well-connected gateway for visitors arriving in New England.
