About Borrego Valley Airport
Borrego Valley Airport is a county-owned public airport serving Borrego Springs and the surrounding Anza-Borrego Desert area of San Diego County. Opened in April 1947 after San Diego County acquired approximately 145 acres from the Burnand family, it operates today as a general aviation facility.
The airport has a single asphalt runway, 8/26, measuring 5,011 by 75 feet, along with aircraft tie-downs and a small terminal/FBO building. There is no control tower and no scheduled commercial airline service; pilots self-announce on the common traffic advisory frequency.
Located about 3 miles east of Borrego Springs on Palm Canyon Drive, the airport is reached by road, with private transfers, taxis and rental cars providing the main onward options.
Passenger amenities include an FBO lounge, Wi-Fi, the Propeller Bar & Grill restaurant and self-service aviation fuel, making it a convenient entry point for private and recreational flights into the desert.
