About Boca Raton Airport
Boca Raton Airport is a public general aviation airport serving Boca Raton and southern Palm Beach County, Florida. It operates as a reliever facility for private, corporate and charter aircraft rather than scheduled airline flights, providing convenient access to one of South Florida's major business and residential areas.
The airport's history dates back to 1936, when it opened as a grass landing strip, and it later served as the Boca Raton Army Airfield during World War II. Control of the airport passed to the City of Boca Raton in 1948, and it has since developed into a modern general aviation facility with a 6,276-foot runway and an air traffic control tower opened in 2000.
Located about 3 miles (5 km) northwest of downtown Boca Raton and just off Interstate 95, the airport sits midway between West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale. Travelers can reach the city centre, nearby beaches and surrounding areas by car, taxi, ride-hailing services or private transfer.
Passenger services are provided through two full-service fixed-base operators, and an on-site U.S. Customs and Border Protection facility, opened in 2018, allows international flights to arrive directly. With convenient access to business districts, shopping and the coast, the airport functions as a practical gateway for private aviation in South Florida.
