Blythe Airport is a public general aviation airport serving the city of Blythe and the wider Colorado River Valley in eastern Riverside County, California. Established as an emergency landing field on the Los Angeles–Phoenix airway in the late 1930s, it opened for commercial operations in April 1940 and was used by the United States Army during World War II.
The airport is owned by the County of Riverside and operates two asphalt runways, 8/26 and 17/35, supporting private aircraft, flight training, charter and business aviation. It sits about six miles west of central Blythe, close to Interstate 10 and the California–Arizona border.
Blythe Airport is reached by road via West Hobson Way, with short drives to central Blythe, the Colorado River and nearby Arizona communities such as Quartzsite and Parker. For general aviation travelers it provides a low-traffic and convenient entry point to the desert region.
