The airfield lies about 1.5 to 2 km south of Blönduós town centre, close to Route 1, Iceland's main ring road. It has a single gravel runway, designated 03/21 and roughly 970 metres long, suitable for smaller aircraft rather than large commercial jets.
Because there are no scheduled services, most travellers reach the area by road or use larger airports nearby.
