About Big Bear City Airport
Big Bear City Airport is a public general aviation airport serving Big Bear City, Big Bear Lake and the surrounding San Bernardino Mountain communities. Situated at about 6,752 feet above sea level, it supports private, charter, business, emergency and recreational flying rather than scheduled airline service.
The airport has operated at this site since 1928 and is run by the Big Bear Airport District. It has a single asphalt runway, 8/26, measuring 5,850 by 75 feet, along with parallel taxiways, hangars, aircraft tie-downs and a fuel farm offering 100LL and Jet A.
The former terminal building was demolished in 2025 and a replacement terminal is under construction, with a temporary terminal currently in use. The airfield is open to aircraft 24 hours a day, while the terminal is generally open daily from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Ground access is via State Highway 18 and West Big Bear Boulevard, roughly 10–15 minutes from Big Bear Lake village and close to Big Bear City. From there, travelers can reach the lake, Snow Summit, Bear Mountain and other destinations across the mountains.
