Beledweyne Airport (BLW), also known as Ugaas Khaliif International Airport, serves Beledweyne, the capital of Somalia's Hiran region. It is an important air link for central Somalia, supporting domestic passenger travel and cargo and humanitarian movements into and out of the region.
The airport lies about 2 km northeast of the city centre. It has a single runway, 04/22, with a crushed rock and packed sand surface measuring approximately 2,200 metres. A new passenger terminal section opened in 2021, and the airstrip was refurbished in 2015 following periods of flooding and closure.
Because the airport is close to Beledweyne, the road transfer to the city is short. Taxis, private vehicles and a local bus connect passengers between the terminal and the city centre, with a recently built tarmac road improving access.
