About Begum Nusrat Bhutto International Airport Sukkur
Begum Nusrat Bhutto International Airport is the main airport serving Sukkur and the northern Sindh region of Pakistan. Opened in 1942 as Sukkur Aerodrome, it was used as a military airfield by the British Raj, renamed Sukkur Airport in 1980 and given its present name in 2012 after the former first lady of Pakistan.
Located about 8 km west of central Sukkur, the airport is a joint civil and military facility that primarily handles domestic flights and serves nearby cities and towns such as Khairpur, Rohri, Larkana and Shikarpur. Its single paved runway is approximately 2,700 metres long.
The airport operates from a single terminal building and is reached by taxi, local buses and private road transport. Onward connections are available to Sukkur city centre and surrounding districts across northern Sindh.
Plans have been announced to upgrade the airport for wider international operations, including runway, taxiway and terminal improvements. For now, it remains a practical domestic gateway for the region with basic passenger facilities.
