About Båtsfjord Airport
Båtsfjord Airport is a small regional airport serving the fishing town of Båtsfjord on the Varanger Peninsula in Finnmark, northern Norway. Opened in 1999, it replaced the former airport at Båtsfjorddalen and is operated by Avinor as part of Norway's short-runway regional network.
Located around 7 kilometres south of Båtsfjord town centre, the airport is served by Widerøe, which connects the town to regional hubs and communities such as Vadsø, Kirkenes, Hammerfest, Tromsø, Berlevåg, Mehamn, Honningsvåg and Vardø. Its single asphalt runway measures 1,000 metres and is used for scheduled regional flights.
The airport has a compact passenger terminal with a small waiting area, restrooms and short-term parking. Travelers usually continue to Båtsfjord by taxi or private car, while hotels, restaurants and other services are located in the town nearby.
Although facilities at the airport itself are limited, it plays an essential role for residents, fishing-industry workers and visitors traveling to this remote part of Finnmark.
