About Bartica Airport
Bartica Airport (GFO) is the main air gateway to Bartica, a commercial town in Guyana's Cuyuni-Mazaruni Region located at the meeting point of the Essequibo, Mazaruni and Cuyuni rivers. The airport provides an important link between the capital and Guyana's interior and is often described as the gateway to the interior.
The airfield has a single 760-metre asphalt runway. Scheduled passenger services are operated by Trans Guyana Airways, connecting Bartica with Eugene F. Correia International Airport (OGL) in Georgetown. The airport is located about 6 km southwest of the Bartica town centre.
A new terminal is under development at the airport, with construction launched in late 2025. The project is planned to add international flight capability, restaurants, cafés, commercial spaces, hotel-style rooms and medical service areas.
After arriving, passengers can continue by taxi, motorbike taxi or pre-arranged transfer into Bartica, where boat services connect to riverside communities, mining areas, eco-lodges and attractions such as Marshall Falls.
