About Bannu Airport
Bannu Airport is a small domestic airport serving the city of Bannu and the surrounding districts of southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It was built to provide air connections for the local population and neighbouring communities and lies about 11 km west of the Bannu city centre.
The airport was once used for scheduled domestic flights operated by Pakistan International Airlines with Fokker F27 aircraft. Scheduled commercial flights ended in the late 1990s, and the airport has since remained closed to regular passenger traffic, although upgrade plans were announced in 2016.
The airport has a single asphalt runway of about 1,830 metres (6,000 ft), oriented 07/25, and sits at an elevation of roughly 400 metres. Its compact layout and single terminal building were designed for domestic operations rather than large-scale international traffic.
Road transport provides the main onward connection, with Bannu town a short drive away and routes leading toward Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, North Waziristan and Peshawar. Because the airport currently has no scheduled flights, most air travellers in the region use other operational airports in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
