Banja Luka International Airport is the main airport serving Banja Luka and the surrounding Republika Srpska region. Construction of the airport began in 1976, and the terminal was opened to civilian air traffic in 1997 after the airport was upgraded for international operations.
Located about 23 km north of central Banja Luka near Mahovljani in the municipality of Laktaši, the airport provides connections to European destinations through airlines including Ryanair, Wizz Air and Air Serbia. It operates a single passenger terminal with a 2,500-metre runway, serving both scheduled and seasonal traffic.
The airport is reached by road via the E661 and the Mahovljani exit, with taxis, minibus services and private transfers linking it to Banja Luka, Laktaši and other parts of the region. Car rental is also available for independent onward travel.
