About Bălți International Airport
Bălți International Airport, formerly known as Bălți-Leadoveni International Airport, serves the city of Bălți and the northern part of Moldova. It is the country's second-largest airport and mainly handles cargo, charter and occasional passenger flights, supporting travel and logistics for the northern region.
The airport opened in 1989, replacing the older Bălți City Airport as the main airfield for the area. It is located about 15 km north of the Bălți city centre, near the village of Corlăteni in Rîșcani District, and has a single concrete runway roughly 2,240 metres long.
The site includes a passenger terminal with departures and arrivals areas plus a cargo terminal. Road access connects the airport with Bălți, and travellers typically continue to the city by taxi, private transfer or pre-arranged car.
Although scheduled passenger services have been limited in recent years, the airport remains certified and available for charter, cargo and special flights, making it a useful regional gateway for visitors and businesses in northern Moldova.
