Coronel FAP Alfredo Mendívil Duarte Airport is the main airport serving Ayacucho, a historic city in Peru's central-southern Andes. It is the principal air gateway for the department of Ayacucho and connects the region to the rest of the country through scheduled flights to Lima.
The airport is located in the Andrés Avelino Cáceres district of Huamanga province, about 3 km from Ayacucho's city centre and roughly 2,700 metres above sea level. It operates a single passenger terminal and a 2,500-metre asphalt runway, with regular services provided by LATAM Perú and Sky Airline Perú.
The airport has been managed by Aeropuertos Andinos del Perú since 2011, and its terminal infrastructure was modernised in 2014. In 2026 it was declared an international airport as part of a gradual process to expand regional connectivity, although scheduled flights currently remain domestic.
The terminal offers compact passenger facilities including check-in counters, a boarding lounge, a café and a convenience store. Taxis, private transfers and car rental connect the airport with central Ayacucho and surrounding areas, making onward travel straightforward.
