Aviador Carlos Campos Airport (CPC)

Aviador Carlos Campos Airport, also known as Chapelco Airport, serves San Martín de los Andes and the lakes region of southern Neuquén in Argentine Patagonia. Its stone-and-wood alpine-style terminal was inaugurated in 1992 and reflects the character of the surrounding mountain town. The airport is named after aviator Carlos Campos, who died in 1995 during a rescue flight on Cerro Tronador.

Located about 23 km from San Martín de los Andes and close to Junín de los Andes, the airport functions as the regional gateway for domestic and international travel. A single passenger terminal handles scheduled flights connecting the area with Buenos Aires, Rosario and Córdoba, as well as seasonal international services such as Montevideo and São Paulo. The terminal was recently renovated to add more seating, commercial spaces and passenger amenities.

The airport is reached by road, with taxis, remises, private transfers and rental cars providing onward connections. The drive to central San Martín de los Andes typically takes around 30 minutes, depending on traffic and weather conditions.

For travellers, the airport offers a cafeteria, commercial premises, a VIP lounge, charging points and car rental services. It is the main arrival point for visitors heading to Cerro Chapelco ski resort, the Seven Lakes Route and Lanín National Park.
