Avenger Field is a public-use general aviation airport serving Sweetwater and Nolan County in West Texas. It is owned by the City of Sweetwater and sits approximately three miles west of the Sweetwater city centre.
The field has a long aviation history. It opened as a flight-training base in 1941 and became the training base for the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) during World War II, when it was the largest all-female air base in American history. The National WASP WWII Museum is located at the airport today.
The airport operates two asphalt runways, 17/35 and 4/22, together with a terminal building that provides a pilot lounge, Wi-Fi, snacks, and office space. Other facilities include self-service avgas and jet fuel, hangars, and tiedowns.
