About Austin Municipal Airport
Austin Municipal Airport (AUM) is a public-use general aviation airport serving Austin, Minnesota, and the surrounding Mower County area. Opened in April 1940, it remains an important local airfield for private pilots, flight training, business aviation and regional access.
Located about two miles east of downtown Austin, the airport operates a single 5,800-foot concrete runway, 17/35, with instrument approach capability. Passenger operations are general aviation rather than commercial airline service, and aircraft handling is based at the Austin Aeroflight FBO.
The airport is close to the intersection of Interstate 90 and U.S. Highway 218, making road access to Austin, Rochester, Albert Lea and other southeastern Minnesota communities convenient. Visitors can continue to downtown Austin, local hotels and nearby attractions such as the SPAM Museum.
