About Arkansas International Airport

Arkansas International Airport is a public-use general aviation airport serving Blytheville and northeast Arkansas. The site opened in the early 1940s as a World War II army airfield, later became Blytheville Air Force Base and then Eaker Air Force Base, and was converted to civilian use after the military installation closed in 1992.

Located about 3 miles northwest of central Blytheville in Mississippi County, the airport sits near the Missouri and Tennessee state lines. It has a single concrete runway measuring 11,602 feet, one of the longest in Arkansas, and primarily supports private, business, corporate and cargo operations rather than scheduled airline service. The adjacent Arkansas Aeroplex industrial park reinforces the airport's role in regional aviation and logistics.

The airport is reached by road from Blytheville and sits near Interstate 55, providing a connection to Memphis about 70 miles to the south and other communities in the Mid-South region. Ground transportation is typically arranged in advance, with private transfers, chauffeur services and rental cars available for onward travel.

For general aviation users, BYH offers fuel, hangars, aircraft maintenance, fixed-base operator services and a terminal building with Wi-Fi, making it a practical gateway for private and business travelers visiting the region.
