About Ardmore Downtown Executive Airport
Ardmore Downtown Executive Airport (AHD) is a public-use general aviation airport owned and operated by the City of Ardmore, serving Ardmore and south-central Oklahoma. It supports private, business and charter aviation rather than scheduled airline passenger service, and is home to more than 40 based aircraft with roughly 9,500 takeoffs and landings each year.
The airport opened in February 1950 and sits about one mile southeast of downtown Ardmore. Its single asphalt runway, Runway 17/35, measures 5,014 by 75 feet and has RNAV (GPS) instrument approaches to both runway ends.
A major modernization is underway: the 60-year-old terminal is being replaced with a larger facility that will include a pilot lounge, office space and shower amenities, following an October 2025 groundbreaking and expected completion by November 2026. Planned improvements also include a new perimeter fence and future runway rehabilitation.
For visitors and flight crews, the airport offers convenient access to downtown Ardmore, nearby Lake Murray and surrounding business destinations, with FBO services, fuel, aircraft parking and advance-arranged ground transportation.
