Allegheny County Airport is a general aviation airport serving Pittsburgh and the surrounding Allegheny County region. Opened in 1931, it operates as the primary FAA-designated reliever airport for Pittsburgh International Airport and is among the busiest general aviation airports in Pennsylvania.
Located in West Mifflin, about 8 miles southeast of downtown Pittsburgh, the airport is convenient to the South Hills, Monroeville and the Monongahela Valley. It no longer handles scheduled airline service, but it supports a steady flow of private, corporate and recreational flights.
The airport features a historic Art Deco terminal building, two runways and a helipad, with fixed-base operators Lynx and Corporate Air providing passenger, crew, fuel and hangar services. An FAA control tower and aircraft rescue and firefighting capability support operations on site.
