About Alférez FAP David Figueroa Fernandini Airport
Alférez FAP David Figueroa Fernandini Airport is the main airport serving Huánuco and the wider Huánuco region in central Peru. Opened in 1963, it provides scheduled domestic connections between Huánuco and Lima, operated primarily by Star Perú and ATSA Airlines.
Located about 6 km northeast of central Huánuco, the airport has a single passenger terminal and a 2,500-metre asphalt runway. The terminal was remodelled in 2017 and is currently undergoing expansion to enlarge passenger areas, improve the control tower and add a baggage conveyor system.
Travellers can reach Huánuco city centre by taxi, private transfer, chauffeur service or pre-arranged vehicle, with the short road connection making the airport a practical entry point for the city and surrounding highland areas.
As the region's principal air gateway, the airport supports access to Huánuco's archaeological and natural attractions while providing the essential passenger services needed for domestic arrivals and departures.
