About Albert Whitted Airport

Albert Whitted Airport is a public general aviation airport on the downtown waterfront of St. Petersburg, Florida. The airfield dates back to 1917 and was formally named in 1928 after Lt. James Albert Whitted, making it one of the region's historic aviation sites.

Today the airport serves private, charter, and air taxi flights, flight training, sightseeing operations, and medical transport. It has two asphalt runways and no scheduled commercial airline service, functioning as a convenient downtown gateway for pilots and passengers visiting the city and the wider Tampa Bay area.

Passenger services are centered on the Galbraith Terminal, completed in 2007, which houses the fixed-base operator, The Hangar Restaurant and Flight Lounge, a flight school, and rental car services. A control tower opened in 2011 supports the airport's day-to-day operations.

Located only about 1.6 km (1 mile) from downtown St. Petersburg, the airport is within a short drive of the St. Pete Pier, waterfront parks, museums, and Gulf Coast beaches. Taxis, ride-hailing, private transfers, chauffeur services, and rental cars provide onward connections to the city and surrounding Pinellas County.
