The airport was activated in 1942 and has roots as a World War II-era civilian pilot training facility. Its primary runway is 5,000 feet long, and a shorter crosswind runway supports smaller aircraft and local operations.
The arrival/departure building completed in 2018 provides waiting areas, pilot rest space, and a conference room. Hangars, aircraft tie-downs, and fueling facilities support based aircraft and visiting pilots.
