Aishalton Airport (AHL) is a small domestic airstrip serving Aishalton village in the Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo Region of southern Guyana. It is the main air link for the South Rupununi, connecting this remote savannah community with the capital, Georgetown, and the regional town of Lethem.
The airstrip was rebuilt as a 2,500-foot rigid concrete runway and commissioned in January 2026, replacing the earlier grass and laterite surface. The project also added a concrete apron for aircraft parking, with a modern terminal planned to follow.
The airport sits at the edge of the village, within a short drive of the centre of Aishalton. Road access continues to Lethem, roughly 160 km to the north, and onward to other Rupununi communities; travel times depend on road and weather conditions.
Facilities remain simple, but scheduled domestic flights by operators such as Trans Guyana Airways, Air Services Limited and Jags Aviation provide an essential passenger link to Georgetown. The airport functions as a practical gateway for residents, healthcare, education and supply access, as well as for visitors exploring the southern savannah.
