About Ahmed Al Jaber Air Base
Ahmed Al Jaber Air Base is a Kuwait Air Force installation located in the Al Ahmadi Governorate, about 75 km south of Kuwait City. Named after Sheikh Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the base has served as a major military airfield and coalition staging point in the Gulf region since the Gulf War.
The base operates two parallel runways and hosts Kuwait Air Force F/A-18 squadrons, together with hardened aircraft shelters, fuel storage and maintenance facilities. It has supported US and coalition air operations including Operation Southern Watch and later deployments in the Middle East.
Because it is an active military facility, access is restricted and there are no scheduled commercial passenger services. Road links connect the base with Kuwait City and nearby areas of the Ahmadi Governorate for authorized personnel and approved ground transport.
For authorized visitors and contractors, the base functions as a strategic military airfield with operational support infrastructure rather than a conventional public airport.
