About Lâm Đồng
Đà Lạt is the capital of Lâm Đồng Province and the best-known highland destination in Vietnam's Central Highlands. Sitting at roughly 1,500 metres above sea level, the city is often called the 'City of Eternal Spring' for its cool climate, pine-covered hills, lakes and year-round flower growing.
Founded as a French colonial hill station in the late 19th century, Đà Lạt still shows its past in villas, churches and public buildings. The art deco Đà Lạt Railway Station, Bảo Đại Summer Palace, Linh Phước Pagoda and the unconventional Hang Nga Guesthouse, known as the Crazy House, are among its most distinctive landmarks.
The compact centre around Xuân Hương Lake and Đà Lạt Market is the busiest area, while quieter hillside streets are lined with older villas and gardens. Popular experiences include the Valley of Love, Tuyền Lâm Lake, Datanla Waterfall, Prenn Waterfall and Lang Biang Mountain, which offer outdoor activities and views over the surrounding highlands.
Đà Lạt is also a major producer of flowers, coffee, tea, strawberries and temperate vegetables, and its farms and flower villages are part of the local identity. The city's cafe scene, night market and street food, together with the Đà Lạt Flower Festival and a growing calendar of conferences and events, support both leisure and business visits.
For travellers, Đà Lạt works as a cool, scenic base for exploring Lâm Đồng Province and the wider Central Highlands, with a mix of heritage, nature and everyday local life that sets it apart from Vietnam's coastal and lowland cities.

Lâm Đồng Travel Guide
Best Time to Visit
Đà Lạt is pleasant all year, but the dry season from November to April is the most reliable for sightseeing, waterfalls and outdoor activities. December and January are coolest and often busy around the Đà Lạt Flower Festival, while the rainy months from May to October bring green scenery and fewer crowds.
How to Get Around
The city centre around Xuân Hương Lake and Đà Lạt Market is walkable, but the hilly layout makes taxis, ride-hailing and rented motorbikes common for longer trips. Public buses cover some routes, while private cars with drivers are useful for visiting waterfalls, farms and viewpoints outside the centre.
Where to Stay
Stay near Xuân Hương Lake or Đà Lạt Market for easy access to cafés, restaurants and the night market. Hillside villa areas and the Tuyền Lâm Lake zone offer quieter, scenic options, while guesthouses and farmstays outside the centre suit travellers who want a countryside atmosphere.
Food & Drink
Đà Lạt is known for street foods such as bánh căn, bánh mì xíu mại and bánh tráng nướng, often called Vietnamese pizza, as well as strawberries, avocado ice cream and artichoke tea. The central market, local coffee shops and farm-to-table restaurants showcase the region's cool-climate produce.
