About Quezon
Quezon City is the most populous city in the Philippines and one of the main anchors of Metro Manila, known for its role as the country's former capital and for its government, education, media, and commercial centres. It occupies the northeastern portion of the capital region, mixing wide boulevards, residential villages, and dense business districts.
The city is named after Manuel L. Quezon, the Philippines' second president, and served as the national capital from 1948 to 1976. Its history remains visible at Quezon Memorial Circle, a national park and shrine at the city's centre, and in landmarks such as the Batasang Pambansa complex and the sprawling University of the Philippines Diliman campus.
Districts give the city a varied character. Cubao and Araneta City form a busy shopping and entertainment area around the Smart Araneta Coliseum, while Eastwood City combines offices, restaurants, and nightlife. Tomas Morato and Maginhawa Street are well-known food destinations, and Diliman's university surroundings add cafés, bookshops, and a relaxed atmosphere.
As a major centre for broadcasting, higher education, technology, and public institutions, Quezon City also hosts convention and event venues, plus large shopping centres such as SM North EDSA and TriNoma. Its food scene ranges from street food and local eateries to international restaurants, drawing visitors from across the metropolis.
For leisure and business travellers alike, Quezon City offers a practical base near Metro Manila's attractions, with green spaces such as La Mesa Eco Park and the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center providing outdoor escapes inside the city.
