About Sinaloa
Mazatlán is a Pacific coast city in Sinaloa, Mexico, often called the Pearl of the Pacific. It combines a working port, long sandy beaches, a restored colonial centre and a lively resort scene that makes it one of western Mexico's most recognizable seaside destinations.
The city's Centro Histórico preserves 19th-century buildings around Plaza Machado and the Angela Peralta Theater, alongside the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. Above the bay, El Faro lighthouse on Cerro del Crestón offers panoramic views, and the roughly 21 km Malecón ranks among the longest oceanfront promenades in Latin America.
Neighbourhoods range from the beachfront Zona Dorada with its hotels, restaurants and nightlife to Olas Altas, Playa Norte and quieter areas near the Marina. Across the harbour channel, Isla de la Piedra offers a relaxed beach day, while sport fishing, golf and marina activities draw visitors throughout the year.
Mazatlán hosts one of Mexico's largest Carnival celebrations before Lent each year, and its seafood culture is central to local identity, with shrimp, aguachile and ceviche served across markets and beach palapas. The city is also home to the Pacifico brewery and a growing convention and cruise ship infrastructure.
For travellers, Mazatlán offers a practical mix of beach leisure, historic sightseeing, seasonal events and business facilities, making it relevant for both holiday visitors and business travellers arriving by air or sea.
