About St Peter
St Peter is one of the twelve parishes of Jersey, a rural area in the island's west, roughly 6.5 km north-west of St Helier. Green valleys, farmland and coastal heath define much of the parish, and Jersey Airport sits within its boundaries, making St Peter the first and last stop for many visitors to the island.
The parish centre clusters around St Peter's Parish Church, the parish hall and a small row of shops, giving the area a distinct village feel. Nearby, St Peter's Valley is one of Jersey's most scenic valleys, home to the 18th-century Moulin de Quétivel watermill, while St Peter's Windmill, built in 1837, is a landmark of local granite on the ridge above the coast.
To the west, St Peter opens onto St Ouen's Bay and the Les Mielles Nature Reserve, a stretch of dunes, wetlands and walking trails behind one of Jersey's best surf beaches. The parish also includes family attractions such as the aMaizin! Adventure Park, and The Living Legend attraction near the airport presents Jersey's history in sound and light.
Despite its countryside character, St Peter has strong links to island-wide life. Jersey Reds rugby plays at the ground beside the airport, and the parish's roads connect quickly to St Helier, St Aubin and the island's west-coast routes, making it a practical base for both leisure and business travellers.
For visitors, St Peter offers a quieter alternative to St Helier while keeping the airport, beaches and country attractions close at hand. Its mix of walking country, coastal access and working rural life gives a clear sense of Jersey beyond the main town.
