About Grenada
Grenada is a small Caribbean nation made up of the main island of Grenada and the smaller islands of Carriacou and Petite Martinique. Known as the Spice Isle, it combines volcanic hillsides, rainforest, waterfalls and sandy bays with a relaxed pace of life that appeals to leisure travellers.
St. George's, the capital, wraps around a horseshoe-shaped harbour and is known for its colourful houses, stone forts and spice markets. Grand Anse Beach lies just south of the capital, while inland sights such as Grand Etang National Park and Lake, Annandale Falls and working nutmeg and cocoa estates reveal a greener side of the island.
Beyond the main island, Carriacou and Petite Martinique offer quieter beaches, fishing villages and a slower, more traditional way of life. History is visible in forts and colonial-era buildings, and the Molinere Underwater Sculpture Park attracts snorkellers and divers from around the world.
Grenada's economy and visitor appeal centre on tourism, agriculture and events, with sailing regattas, carnival and cultural festivals adding seasonal colour. Its reputation as a spice producer is reflected in local food, rum distilleries and farm tours.
Maurice Bishop International Airport connects the island to regional and international destinations, while taxis, private transfers, rental cars and ferry services between the islands make it convenient to move between airports, hotels, beaches, marinas and sightseeing spots.
