Wuvulu Island Airport (WUV)

Wuvulu Island Airport is a small remote-island airstrip serving Wuvulu Island in the western Bismarck Archipelago, part of Manus Province, Papua New Guinea. It functions mainly as a lifeline for the island's small communities, supporting charter, mission and medical evacuation flights rather than scheduled commercial services.

The airport has a single unsealed runway (15/33) of roughly 842 metres and minimal ground infrastructure. Operations are weather-dependent and generally limited to small aircraft operated by charter companies and organisations such as the Mission Aviation Fellowship.

Located on the northern part of the island, the airstrip sits a few kilometres from the main villages of Auna and Onne. Ground movement around the island relies mostly on walking paths and small boats, while the nearest larger centre, Aitape, lies about 165 km to the south across the sea.

Travellers should plan carefully: fuel and supplies need to be arranged in advance, and onward connections are typically made by charter aircraft or boat. Despite its basic facilities, the airstrip gives this isolated part of the Bismarck Archipelago essential access to medical support, supplies and regional transport.
