Wekweètì Airport (YFJ)

Wekweètì Airport is the main air connection serving the small Tłı̨chǫ community of Wekweètì, formerly known as Snare Lake, in the Northwest Territories. Most travel to and from this remote hamlet depends on the airport, with scheduled flights linking the community to Yellowknife and other northern points.

Located about 5.9 kilometres (3.7 miles) east of Wekweètì, the airport has a single gravel runway, 13/31, measuring 2,999 feet (914 metres). It is operated by the Government of the Northwest Territories as a certified aerodrome where prior notice is required for use.

The airport's small terminal building handles check-in, boarding, arrivals and baggage for scheduled and charter traffic. Air Tindi provides scheduled passenger service, primarily to and from Yellowknife, with connections to other Tłı̨chǫ communities.

Because there is no year-round road connection to the community, air travel is the most reliable way to reach Wekweètì for much of the year. Travelers continuing to the hamlet typically use a pre-arranged pickup for the short drive from the airfield into the community.
