Waiheke Island Aerodrome (WIK)

Waiheke Island Aerodrome is the only airport on Waiheke Island, a privately owned airfield on a ridge south of Onetangi Bay in the Hauraki Gulf, about 17 nautical miles northeast of Auckland. It serves private fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters, and prior permission to land is required.

The airfield has a single grass runway aligned 17/35 and roughly 655 metres long, used mainly for private flights, charter operations such as Waiheke Wings, and medical evacuation flights to hospitals in Auckland. It is also the island's only licensed helicopter landing site.

Located about 3.8 kilometres east of Ostend and between Onetangi and Woodside Bay, the aerodrome sits around 122 metres above sea level. Waiheke Island is most commonly reached from Auckland by a ferry service of about 40 minutes, while helicopter transfers from the Auckland area can reach the airfield in around 12 minutes.

With no large passenger terminal, the aerodrome is geared toward private aviation rather than scheduled airline services. Travellers arriving here continue to beaches, wineries, and villages such as Onetangi, Oneroa, and Ostend by private car, taxi, or pre-arranged transfer.
