Vermilion Airport (YVG)

Vermilion Airport is a municipal general aviation aerodrome serving Vermilion, Alberta, and the surrounding County of Vermilion River. The facility is owned, operated and funded by the Town of Vermilion and functions as a regional gateway for private, business, agricultural and medical aviation.

Aviation has been based in Vermilion since the first grass airstrip was built in 1931, and the current airport opened on July 9, 1976. The compact site includes a single asphalt runway (10/28), a taxiway, a public apron, a terminal building and aircraft hangars, with AVGAS 100LL fuel available.

Located in the northeast portion of the town and about 2 km from downtown Vermilion, the airport sits close to the junction of Highway 16 (Yellowhead Highway) and Highway 41. Edmonton lies roughly 177 km to the west and Lloydminster to the east, with travel to and from the airfield typically arranged by private vehicle, taxi, rental car or pre-booked ground transfer.

Vermilion Airport operates around the clock and supports air ambulance flights, pipeline survey and maintenance, flight training, agricultural spraying, military training and general aviation. As a small, non-certified aerodrome, it does not offer scheduled commercial passenger service, but it provides a practical aviation link for the town and surrounding region.
