About Utirik Airport
Utirik Airport is a small public airfield serving Utirik Atoll in the northern Marshall Islands. The atoll lies roughly 485 km north of the capital, Majuro, and the airport links its small community with Majuro and other outer islands through scheduled domestic flights operated by Air Marshall Islands.
Activated in 1983, the airport has a single coral-surfaced runway, designated 07/25, measuring about 732 m in length. It uses a minimal terminal building and handles light aircraft such as the Dornier 228 on flights that take about 1 hour 20 minutes from Majuro.
Located about 1 km from Utrik village, the airfield has no runway lighting, so operations are limited to daylight hours. There is no refuelling, ground handling, air traffic control or formal security screening on site.
Travelers arrive and depart through a simple terminal area and continue to Utrik village by local vehicle or on foot. Despite its basic facilities, the airport is the main air link for this remote atoll and its residents.
