About Uige Airport
Uige Airport is a public airport serving Uige, the capital of Uige Province in northwestern Angola. Located on the western edge of the city, it is the main air gateway for domestic travel to and from the province.
The airport has existed since 1951 and was substantially redeveloped and reopened in 2014, when it was renamed Manuel Quarta Mpunza Airport. The renovation extended the runway and added a modern passenger terminal of about 4,600 square metres.
Uige Airport sits about 3 km from the city centre and is connected by road, with taxis, private transfers and car rental available for onward travel. TAAG Angola Airlines provides scheduled domestic flights between Uige and Luanda.
Although small, the airport plays an important role in regional connectivity, linking Uige Province with the national capital and other destinations reached through Luanda.
