Tumbang Samba Airport is a small domestic airport serving Katingan Regency in Central Kalimantan. It functions as a regional gateway for communities in the middle and upper Katingan River area, connecting the district to Banjarmasin in South Kalimantan.
The airport was built around 1985 and operated from 1987 until 1991 before being dormant for many years. It was put back into operation on 7 March 2022, with regional flights linking Tumbang Samba to Syamsudin Noor Airport in Banjarmasin.
Located in Tumbang Samba, Katingan Tengah, the airport sits about 60 km from Kasongan, the regency capital, and roughly 170 km from Palangka Raya. Its 1,200-metre runway can accommodate small aircraft such as the ATR 42-600 and Cessna 208 Grand Caravan.
The airport has one compact passenger terminal with basic services, and onward travel is mainly by road to Kasongan, Palangka Raya and nearby villages. Because of its small scale, facilities are modest, making advance planning useful for travelers.
