About Göteborg Stallbacka Airport
Göteborg Stallbacka Airport is a regional airport serving Trollhättan, Vänersborg and the surrounding West Sweden area. Formerly known as Trollhättan-Vänersborg Airport, it connects the region with scheduled domestic services to Stockholm and also handles cargo, private aviation and air ambulance flights.
Aviation at the site dates back to 1937, when Saab used the airfield to test aircraft, and civilian operations began in the 1970s with a new terminal, control tower and runway opened in 1974. The airport is now operated by Fyrstads Flygplats AB, which is owned by four local municipalities.
Located about 6 km northeast of central Trollhättan and close to Vänersborg, the airport is reached via the E45 and Route 44. A pre-booked Airport Shuttle links the terminal with Trollhättan Resecentrum, where onward trains serve Gothenburg, and taxis and car rental are also available at the terminal.
The compact terminal keeps travel straightforward, with check-in closing 15 minutes before departure, a restaurant and café, a lounge, free Wi-Fi, conference rooms and free parking with charging points. As a contingency airport since 2020, it also supports essential flights around the clock.
