About Tauranga Airport
Tauranga Airport is the main regional airport serving Tauranga, Mount Maunganui and the Bay of Plenty on New Zealand's North Island. Located adjacent to Tauranga Harbour in Mount Maunganui, it provides domestic connections to Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch through Air New Zealand, along with regional and general aviation services. The current terminal was redeveloped in 2019, replacing much of the original 1967 facility and doubling its floor area to about 3,800 square metres. It offers separate check-in and arrivals areas, a cafe, an Air New Zealand Regional Lounge, free Wi-Fi and modern passenger facilities. The airport sits roughly 6 km from Tauranga city centre and about 5 km from central Mount Maunganui. Taxis, shuttles and rental cars are available directly from the terminal, making onward travel to city, coastal and business destinations straightforward. As a compact domestic gateway, Tauranga Airport is designed for quick, convenient passenger movement, with short walking distances and easy access to nearby parking and transport links.
Terminal Overview
