About Taloyoak Airport
Taloyoak Airport (YYH) is the community airport serving Taloyoak, a small hamlet on the Boothia Peninsula in Nunavut, Canada. Operated by the Government of Nunavut, it provides an essential air link for residents, cargo, medical travel and visitors in a region with limited road connections. The airport is located about 1.5 km west of the community. It has a single gravel runway, Runway 15/33, measuring approximately 1,222 m, and a compact two-storey passenger terminal that became operational in 2017 and was officially opened in 2018 with improved accessibility and heated waiting areas. Scheduled and charter flights connect Taloyoak with northern hubs such as Yellowknife, Cambridge Bay, Gjoa Haven and Kugaaruk, making the airport the community’s main link to the rest of Nunavut and Canada. Because Taloyoak is a small, remote community, airport-to-town travel distances are short. Passengers typically reach the settlement by pre-arranged pickup, taxi or local vehicle, with limited public transport options.
