Tabiteuea North Airport (TBF)

Tabiteuea North Airport serves the northern section of Tabiteuea Atoll, part of the Gilbert Islands group in Kiribati. It is a small domestic airfield rather than an international gateway, linking the atoll with the capital island of Tarawa and other points in the Gilbert Islands.

The airport lies roughly 3 km southeast of Utiroa, the main settlement of North Tabiteuea. Its single coral-surfaced runway is about 1,000 metres long and is used mainly by Air Kiribati, which operates scheduled flights twice a week from Bonriki on Tarawa.

Passenger facilities are basic, with a compact terminal building, a simple waiting area and no large commercial services. Ground transport is arranged locally, usually by vehicle or on foot, for the short journey to Utiroa and nearby villages.

Despite its modest infrastructure, the airport plays an important role in keeping the outer islands connected, carrying passengers, supplies and essential services to this remote part of Kiribati.
