Syunik Airport (YUK)

Syunik Airport is the main air gateway for Kapan, the administrative centre of Armenia's southern Syunik Province. Located about 4 km east of the city, it links southern Armenia with the capital, Yerevan, and serves residents, business travellers and visitors to the region.

The airport underwent a significant restoration that included repairing the runway and apron, building a new passenger complex and installing new perimeter fencing. Regular passenger services between Kapan and Yerevan resumed in August 2023 after a long period without scheduled flights.

The airport has a single passenger terminal and a paved runway of about 1,750 metres, and it currently handles domestic operations with small aircraft. Ground transportation from the airport includes taxis, private transfers and rental cars for the short journey into Kapan and surrounding areas.

As the only operating air gateway for the Syunik region, the airport offers a much faster alternative to the long road route between Kapan and Yerevan and plays an important role in improving access to southern Armenia.
