About Syamsudin Noor International Airport

Syamsudin Noor International Airport is the main airport serving Banjarmasin, the capital of South Kalimantan, and the wider province. Located in Banjarbaru, it connects the region with major domestic hubs and select international destinations and serves both leisure and business travellers.

The airport began operations in 1936 as Ulin Airport and was later renamed after Indonesian aviation figure Syamsudin Noor in the 1970s. A major expansion produced a new passenger terminal that opened in December 2019, replacing the older and much smaller facility and significantly increasing capacity.

Situated roughly 25 km southeast of central Banjarmasin, the airport has a single terminal with 42 check-in counters and separate areas for domestic and international passengers. It is reached by road via Jalan A. Yani, with taxis, ride-hailing services, and private transfers providing onward connections to the city and surrounding areas.

With dining, shopping, lounges, and transport options, the airport functions as the principal gateway for visitors arriving in South Kalimantan.
