About Swift Current Airport
Swift Current Airport is a public airport serving Swift Current and the surrounding southwestern Saskatchewan region. Located about 7 km east of the city centre, it primarily supports general aviation, corporate charters, flight training and air ambulance activity.
The airport has a long aviation history. During the Second World War it operated as an RCAF Station and British Commonwealth Air Training Plan base from 1940 to 1944, and one original wartime hangar remains on site as a municipal heritage structure.
The City of Swift Current assumed management of the airport in 1996 after taking over operations from Transport Canada, and opened a new terminal building in 2016 with seating, washrooms and passenger waiting areas.
Ground access is simple by road, with taxi and car rental services available for the short drive into Swift Current and onward connections via the Trans-Canada Highway.
