About Surbung Airport
Surbung Airport is a small domestic airport serving Falam Township and the wider Chin State in western Myanmar. It was developed as the first airport in Chin State to improve access to a remote and mountainous part of the country.
Located on the Surbung mountain range about 13 km west of Falam town, the airport sits at an elevation of approximately 6,000 feet. Construction began in April 2015, and a successful test landing was carried out in October 2020. The airport has a single runway of around 1,829 metres and one compact passenger terminal.
As a domestic airport, Surbung handles flights within Myanmar rather than direct international services. Its terminal supports domestic arrivals and departures, with basic passenger facilities appropriate to a small regional airport.
Ground access is mainly by road. Private transfers, taxis and local vehicles connect the airport with Falam and other communities in Chin State, although journey times can vary with weather and mountainous road conditions.
